It’s a known fact that the World has been abusing our planet since the beginning of the industrial revolution, and not only by excessive natural resources removal but also, by completely ignoring the hazardous nature of such resources. On top of that, the world’s population keeps on growing which puts tremendous pressure on the same polluting sectors without a viable substitution.
The use of Crude Oil is expected to rise through 2040 by an average of 1.2% annually, which would bring our daily demand to roughly 112M barrels per day (today it's about 97M barrels per day). That’s another 20 years of the same emissions, the same air quality, and the same hydrocarbon dependency.
